Chief Executive Officer
Nicolas Loufrani, the creative force behind The Smiley Company, propelled the brand into the Top 100 licensing IPs.
From elevating Saville Row tailor Ozwald Boateng to revolutionising Smiley in 1996, evolving the original Smiley created by his father in 1972, the concept SmileyWorld was born. Nicolas pioneered 3D digital Smileys and founded SmileyWorld. Steering Smiley into strategic fashion collaborations, he transformed it into a front-runner lifestyle brand, recognised globally.
Nicolas, with a 25-year tenure, expanded brand extensions and propelled Smiley’s annual turnover to over $573 million, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022 with a global campaign. Loufrani’s Smiley Movement, founded in 2017, fosters positive change in societal and environmental issues, making Smiley a symbol of global happiness.
Nicolas also focused on creating global awareness of Smiley as a brand in its own right by moving away from an over-licensed image and into a strategically driven fashion lifestyle brand. Coexisting across all market segments and as comfortable in an independent specialty boutique as it is in a mass-market chain. Elevating Smiley to a new level.
