Created 157 years ago, Elixir d’Anvers has become a traditional alcohol that can be found in every Belgian household. Already a well-established brand that is known to all, Felix de Beukelaer’s teams started in 2020 a design transition to get closer to the younger generation. An overall redesign begins, the brand and the labels are modernised, without at any time losing the very essence of Elixir d’Anvers: tradition! Chefs and mixologists were invited to find a new way to enjoy it with food & cocktails.
An octagonal bottle was chosen for the complete range (50cl, 75cl, 1,5l, 20cl, 3cl) with matching labels perfectly adapted to this special shape. The eco-design approach is an important part of the transformation: a paper label made out of “cotton flower” fibre residues has replaced the previous plastic-based one. Several value-added embellishments enhance the label: hot stamping on the medallions, partial gloss and matt varnish, both of which appeal to the eye and to the touch. The most outstanding feature being the use of “puff ink”, giving a true 3-dimensional stature to the label. A special gluing system and material were chosen to hold the “collar label” in place, which perfectly suits the bottle’s look.
