PCD Innovation Awards 2024
In December 2023, our prestigious jury, made up of brands such as Chanel, Dior, PUIG, Interparfums and many others, met to judge the entries for the PCD Innovation Awards.

Covergirl Lash Blast Cleantopia Mascara
An eco-friendly design, with 96% recycled plastic used in the cap and 30% for the bottle, with blow-molding technology and a new die-cut secondary packaging.

Le 31 Le Rouge by CHANEL is a luxury lipstick inspired by the famous mirrored staircases of the “31 rue Cambon” boutique. Its innovative design aims to offer a new high-end signature for Chanel. The product combines a thin glass tube with a golden aluminum collar on both base and cap, while remaining refillable and durable.

Burberry Her Eau de Parfum
Burberry Her Eau de Parfum, launched in October 2023, breaks new ground with its unique gel formula containing suspended petals. Developed by COTY R&D, this formula uses a blend of calcium alginate, gellan gum and agar to keep the petals in suspension. The main technical challenge was to design a suitable dispensing system.

La Panthère Eau de Parfum de Cartier, scheduled for release in November 2023, illustrates a remarkable step forward in fragrance sustainability. As part of its commitment to sustainability, Cartier has redesigned this iconic fragrance into an eco-designed, refillable version.

What makes this fragrance particularly special is its refillable aspect, reflecting a commitment to ecology.

JPG Le Male Elixir
JPG Le Male Elixir, launched on May 15, 2023, is a remarkable innovation in the world of men’s fragrances. The challenge was to create a new bottle that better showcased JPG’s famous marinière. To achieve this, a fully ribbed bottle was designed, aligned in 3D with the old marinière for consistency across the range.

GOOD COLORATION - GARNIER
This packaging is totally innovative in the hair color market. Its use is new, thanks to the 2in1 cardboard jar. It attracts direct attention on the shelf. L’Oréal has filed a patent for the sealing of the allergy test channel. Almost all components are recyclable, so we’ve managed to reduce our plastic consumption considerably.

Recycled and Recyclable Ecorefill Bottle
The main objective was to reduce the ecological impact of L’Occitane en Provence’s eco-refills, in line with its commitment to make all its eco-refills recyclable by 2025 (Ellen Mac Arthur commitments). The innovation consisted in replacing its 25 personal care eco-refills, currently made of flexible multi-material sachets that are difficult to recycle.

L’Oréal’s “Oleor Colour in shampoo-ONE PUSH” reinvents at-home hair coloring by simplifying the process. Its double-pump system ensures precise dosage and optimal sealing thanks to laser welding. Thanks to a major breakthrough in packaging design, innovative design and improved use of hair dye products, it has regained a large share of the hair color market in China.

The aim was to design a sustainable packaging using the noblest and most recyclable materials (glass, metal, paper), while reserving the use of plastic for technical components. The use of the product, including the filling process, had to meet the most demanding criteria in terms of ergonomics and elegance.

The mission was to renovate Chanel’s top-of-the-range skincare cream pot, Sublimage La Crème, by creating a refillable, portable packaging.
The aim was to raise perceived quality by improving the franchise’s classic aesthetic codes through the use of noble materials.

The refill has been designed to be portable, with an aluminum cap for weekend transport to avoid pump activation. The decoration of the refill is to take up the 3D texture of the secondary box, as well as the lens of the cap.

L'Or de J'adore by Jean-Michel Othoniel
This piece is composed of a bronze pearl structure, in which the crystal bottle and its bronze stopper rest. Without the pearl structure, the bottle could not stand upright: this was a JMO requirement. The bronze stopper had to fit the crystal bottle perfectly.

The objective of this product was to have a precious product in a very limited edition, with “noble” materials, and an artisanal player on the market. The packaging is extremely luxurious, with 23-carat gold leaf, reflecting high-end French craftsmanship and symbolizing elegance.
