Plastek UK hosted our second Sustainability Open Day
in April, once again providing colleagues, customers and
suppliers with a vibrant and informative area in which to
learn about and discuss the latest developments in our
joint search of more environmentally-friendly packaging
solutions.
This second Sustainability Open Day was a huge success as
we were joined by colleagues from a wide range of BlueChip customers and many suppliers to hear the latest news
on a range of topics:
Plastek UK: On our R and D with exciting new sustainable
materials and how what we are doing as a company ie
sustainable materials including ocean plastic, UBQ, and
Notpla, followed by an introduction to our new range of
‘Next Generation’ cosmetics jars.
Envantage: On CDP scoring and the processes which now
allow us to offer individual product carbon footprint data on
all our products, and on the customer benefits this offers.
British Plastics Federation: On the important demands
of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the latest
government updates.
Expeditors: On sustainable logistics, the carbon footprint
comparison of Air, Sea and Road deliveries and our joint
project to provide customers with the CO2 data for
deliveries from our factory to theirs.
Notpla: on the development of their business and its
remarkable seaweed and plant-based products, especially
in relation to our successful partnership to develop rigid,
moulded components.
Our factory tour concluded at the injection moulding
machine which was currently in production with our unique
Notpla ice cream spoons.
Indeed, a high-point of the day for all the attendees was
created when, following the tour, they were presented with
individual pots of delicious ice cream from local producers,
Thaymars, to ensure maximum enjoyment when trialling
the plant-based, moulded spoons
Muddied but Magnificent
Those marvellous mudslingers the Plastek Warriors slipped, slided and slithered into action once again in July, taking part in the latest ‘Tough Mudder’ challenge which was held in Skipton, Yorkshire.
