SUEZ and Alupro announce a partnership to increase aerosol recycling
SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK have announced an exciting two-year partnership with Alupro, the leading aluminium packaging recycling organisation, as a key initiative to significantly enhance aerosol recycling rates across the UK.
Alupro’s research indicates that many people are unsure how to recycle aerosols, leading to lower recycling rates. In 2023, the Environmental Services Association found that 18% of the UK population disposed of aerosols in regular rubbish bins.
This project seeks to improve public recycling knowledge, establish a baseline recycling rate, and create a roadmap for higher future rates. It also aims to stimulate long-term investment in recycling infrastructure. SUEZ and Alupro strive to ensure their waste will be collected, sorted, recycled, and transformed into new products.
The CEO at SUEZ states: “With the 50% aluminium recycling target coming in the near future under EPR, excluding drinks containers, it’s imperative that we maximise the recycling rates of aerosols, through establishing a baseline recycling rate and improving public understanding.”
