Dekorglass and Saralon’s solution to illuminate glass packaging
Polish glass decoration specialist Dekorglass and German printed electronics specialist Saralon have partnered on a new glass decoration technology that allows bottles to light up when touched.
How to increase consumer engagement through packaging while keeping sustainability criteria in mind? Saralon and Dekorglass believe the answer lies in their solution that marries glass decoration and printed electronics. Thanks to the suppliers’ know-how, Saralon, which develops functional and conductive inks for printed electronics, and Dekorglass, an expert in glass decoration, are offering luminous, touch-activated glass bottles. Dekorglass is Saralon’s exclusive partner for the solution, dubbed Light on Glass or alternately SaralLight LED on Glass, which is based on Saralon’s SaralLight LED technology.
“A few years ago, we introduced our SaralLight LED technology to brands in the spirits realm directly, but there was a missing link. Glass is tricky, and production needs to be automated, i.e. printing the functional inks on a round shape and applying micro LEDs not manually, but using machines. This is where Dekorglass comes in. The challenge for us was to find a partner prepared to invest,” Steve Paschky, Managing Director Sales & Marketing at Saralon, tells Formes de Luxe.
