Unilever aims to reduce emissions from aerosol propellants
Unilever is making strides in its efforts to cut emissions from aerosol propellants, as part of its broader climate goals.
In 2021, Unilever set out its Climate Transition Action Plan (CTAP) with a bold commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2039.
Recent updates reveal significant progress. Unilever has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by an impressive 74% compared to 2015, exceeding its 2025 interim goal of a 70% reduction well ahead of time.
Despite this success, overall emissions rose by 1% in 2023. This increase is attributed to higher marketing costs and greater use of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) propellants in aerosol products, particularly in the US and Canada.
Unilever remains committed to overcoming these challenges toward a sustainable future.
