A market first: Armagnac Darroze opts for paper bottles for Mixology range

A first for the Armagnac market: for Mixology, its new range destined for cocktail bars, French house Armagnac Darroze is replacing glass with paper. The armagnacs comes in paper bottles with an inner plastic pouch, from UK-based packaging company Frugalpac.

In an interview with Formes de Luxe earlier this year, Armagnac Darroze CEO Marc Darroze teased the brand’s upcoming launch of its Mixology range. The line, targeting cocktail bars, was released in May 2024. It comprises two products crafted with award-winning mixologist Jérémy Lauilhé (Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2023 – Classe Barman).

Both the White Armagnac and the Armagnac VS come in bottles sourced from UK supplier Frugalpac. The bottles are mainly made of recycled paper, which accounts for 84% of the bottle weight, while the spirit is housed in an inner plastic pouch, making up the bottle’s remaining weight of 16%. Once separated, the plastic content can also be recycled in existing plastic waste recycling streams.
