Aldi adds paper gin bottle to own-label range

British discounter Aldi has extended its drinks range with the launch of its Greyson’s London Dry Gin in a new paper pack.

Earlier this year, Aldi enjoyed great success when it launched two of its own-brand wines in paper bottles, becoming the first supermarket in the UK to adopt this type of packaging. The wines, a Shiraz and a Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa, went on sale on 18 March to coincide with World Recycling Day, priced at £7.99 each.

Building on this success, Aldi has broken new ground by offering its Greyson’s London Dry Gin in a paper bottle, available for £13.99 for a 70cl bottle.

Aldi has teamed up with Frugalpac, a specialist supplier of recycled paper products, for this pioneering initiative in the supermarket sector. Frugalpac introduced the Frugal Bottle in 2020, the first commercially available paper bottle for wines and spirits.
