Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?
This brief was to restage Hennessy Paradis presentation box and make a significant change.
The goal was to get a 3D shaped packaging to mimic the shape of the iconic bottle of Hennessy Paradis 70cl.
Given sustainability goals were to :
- Walk away from plastic and get to wood for the main structure.
This new packaging would so need to be made without using plastic injection and the ultimate goal was to achieve it in wood. - Save volume of packaging around the bottle and this way reduce space to be transported and reduces weight (achievement : reduction of 1,5kg/box vs previous packaging)
How did the pack fulfill the brief? Please describe the technical innovations in the pack and the challenges they address.
We were able to realise this innovative pack with the patented technology of 3D veneer. This is the first time a packaging is seen with deep deformation in 2 directions on wood veneer achieving high-end aesthetic and quality.
On top of this exploit, we add to find ways to apply metal transcript on the 3D shape and to follow the exact unique shape of each box and make sure it resisted to time.
This is not just craftsmanshift as it is produce industrially on large series.
Each piece demonstrates an impactful visual and by the use of natural FSC wood material brings each piece to life.
Why do you believe this pack deserves to win an Innovation Award?
This pack answers most goals fixed by the customer.
To achieve its realisation we had to demonstrate capacities to manufacture boxes using new processes in the packaging business: 3D molding of wood, application of metal transcript. It is an innovation regarding technic but also aesthetic and ecodesign even more when considered that it is produced in large quantities industrially.
It is saving space for storage and transportation and in the meantime is highlighting the iconic shape of Paradis bottle which make is easily recognizable in shelves. It is a real piece of art to be kept.
