Chopard set to use only recycled steel for the manufacture of its watches
Swiss luxury watch and jewellery company Chopard has pledged to use 100% ethical gold and stainless steel in all its products by the end of 2023, reports Journal du Luxe.
The company has previously taken steps to embrace sustainability, but the move to source recycled steel, known as “Lucent Steel”, for its sports watch is a major step. The company is now offering the watch in a range of sizes and materials. Chopard assures its consumers that Lucent Steel considerably improves the resistance and brilliance of its watches. Made from high-quality industrial waste from Swiss watch manufacturers, the material becomes purer with each recycling.
Chopard’s move towards more sustainable production is part of a wider trend in the luxury industry, as customers increasingly demand ethical practices and transparency in the supply chain.
