Design case study | Zany&Shy: sustainable fine jewellery
Zany&Shy is a sustainable fine jewellery brand founded by Hanan Moser, an entrepreneurial mother, who’s main goal is to foster femininity and sustainability but also combine luxury and sustainability. Graphic designer, Alexandra Necula and NoresteStudio worked on the packaging and logo design for Zany&Shy.
Tell us a bit about the brand – its heritage, its story, and its markets – and the brief for this project. How does the design express the brand’s values?
At Zany&Shy Fine Jewelry we combine luxury and sustainability. We craft beautiful timeless jewellery you can wear from day to night. Our pieces are designed in Barcelona and manufactured in Italy. Each piece is made by using 18k gold, lab-grown diamonds.
We are not 100% perfect yet, but we always try to source the most ethical materials, wherever possible.
With the soft and natural colours that we have chosen for our brand, we show how much we care about our Mother Earth.
What inspired the design?
We want to give each of our customers the feeling of being given a gift. Even if they pay for it, we wanted them to experience that thrill of being gifted when they open the package. What technical challenges did you need to overcome to manufacture this pack?
The budget was the most difficult part, especially as a start-up, it is certainly not easy to find a manufacturer capable of supplying only a small quantity.
What reactions have you had from consumers?
The packaging is very original (the way the box opens), and looks very luxurious, also many customers love to keep it as it is very versatile.
