Design case study | Gin Adamus Signature Edition
Tell us a bit about the brand – its heritage, its story, and its markets – and the brief for this project. How does the design express the brand’s values?
Omdesign’s founder and managing director, Diogo Gama Rocha, was commissioned to design the Adamus Signature Edition 2021 bottle. As if it were a page from an ancient herbarium, the image of the Adamus Signature Edition gin is dressed in unique colours and transparencies, reflecting the aromas and freshness of this special edition.
What inspired the design?
With a highly impactful and disruptive image in the world of gins, the bottle explores, inside and out, the elderflower as a decorative element that sets it apart. This identity is reinforced by a 360º play of transparencies that the bottle presents, as a way of enhancing this limited edition to a higher level and, at the same time, getting inside the drink, the plants and their aromas. The print was designed and produced in this way, in layers, to be read from the outside in and vice versa.
What is innovative or unusual about the pack?
The elegance and simplicity of this drink reflects the natural attributes of the product itself. Organic, vegan and with a sublime spirit, Signature Edition 2021, signed by Master Distiller Rui Cruz, evokes the harmony of nature and brings together elderflower distillate, the iconic Baga de Bairrada grape variety and the brand’s common botanicals, perfect ingredients for the creation of this artisanal gin of recognised quality. The outer packaging, made from 100% recyclable and biodegradable paper, features an eco-friendly design that is an extension of the identity adopted for this Signature Edition and reflects its strong character and personality.
